Cleaning the Sony Handycam head using a cleaning cassette


  1. If the video heads are dirty, video or sound distortion may be apparent.
  2. Please clean the video heads for 10 seconds with the Sony DVM-12LCD cleaning cassette (optional) if any of the following problems occurs:

    - Mosaic-pattern noise appears on the playback picture:
     
    - Screen is displayed in blue:

    - Playback pictures do not move.
    - Playback pictures do not appear or the sound breaks off.
    - [   Dirty video head. Use a cleaning cassette.] appears on the screen during recording/playback.
  3. The video heads will wear out after using it for a long time. If you cannot obtain a clear image even after using a cleaning cassette (optional), the video heads might be worn. Please contact your Sony dealer or a local authorized Sony service facility to have the video heads replaced.
